God is good all the time.
It is crazy I am finally here after so so many months of preparation. I can honestly say wow. This country and these people are beautiful. We arrived
At 2AM EST on Jan. 30 and ate lunch at this local market type place. It was honestly very beautiful. For dinner we had some really yummy and delicious food.. At night we meet some of the older kids and we sat through one of their English classes.
Well then we went to bed, and woke up at about 4AM (the roosters woke us up).. I took a bucket shower, and then we ate breakfast. Breakfast was kind of like Roman noodles (it actually wasn’t that bad, I am not a Roman gal though).
At 7:30am (7:30PM EST) we started to head to this family’s home to do ministry with them. The lady of the home has a little girl who had some medical issues. The lady of the home is a single mother due to the fact her husband has recently passed. The lady does not have much. They do not have running water, a toilet, or anything of that such. They are in desperate need of a well, so I texted my mom and the Lord provided the money for that. But the Lord we serve is good and the Cambodian Government gave the lady a well.. So with the money I raised we will be giving the lady something else she needs. An example of something is chicken coops or maybe floors.
Courtney who is our translator is from Louisiana, and he is awesome with the kids. Courtney wants to help the kids as much as possible but the lack of money is very obvious. So also be in prayer of that.
The kids at the orphanage are all great. The age range is all over from 5 to 20 years old. The boys are all goofy and have great personalities and the girls are starting to finally open up to us. We start teaching them English on Monday (February 4) without Courtney’s help.
Our first worship session was yesterday at 7PM Saturday, February 2. The way the kids worshipped was very powerful. They literally have little to nothing and still raise and praise the Lord with everything they have. Even though we have a language barrier the presents of the Lord was there the whole time.
The next worship session was Sunday, and I spoke at it. I planned this lesson and right before I went up I felt like God telling me to talk about my Instagram post about scars.. I am not sure if the kids understood or not but that is what I felt called to do. So I did that.
We have our first day of English teaching alone so please pray for that.
My first blog I talked about moments that define us. Some of the children in the orphanage don’t have a mother or a father. While other kids are just lacking one and they couldn’t provide. I am not sure of all the kids situations but they all have a story. Just like you and I have a story. Our story matters and hopefully the kids realize that they have a story and it matters as well. The moments in their lives all happened for a certain reason, so please pray for me as I try and touch a child’s life. Because the children have already touched mine.
Joshua 1:9
“This is my command – be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
I am not sure why this verse has been on my mind none stop since I have been here, but please pray for God‘s guidance as my next 3 months unfold. Thank you everyone for all the outpouring love and support.
Sidenote from this trip, please countinue to pray that justice will be done for my family and whoever broke in and set our home on fire has to pay.
