“Laughter Came from Every Brick”
Laughter came from every brick.
Just these two words He spoke, changed my life.
‘Enjoy Me.’
What a burden I thought it was to carry- a crucifix, as did He.
Love once said to me, ‘I know a song, would you like to hear it?’
And laughter came from every brick in the street and every pore in the sky.
After a night of prayer He changed my life when He said ‘Enjoy Me.’
My friend Amanda shared this poem with me before I left for Costa Rica, and I now keep it taped in my bible and above my sleeping pad in Sarapiqui. It is the sweetest reminder to me of what I want my time on the world race, and the rest of my life, to be about. I want to enjoy Jesus. I want to love Him with everything I have in me. I want to serve His people to the best of my ability. He sacrificed so much to know us and to be in relationship with us, and I want my life to be a demonstration of that. I want to make people want to know Him.
My time in Sarapiqui is a sweet period of getting to know Jesus better and giving love away to his people. I am not out here slaving away to God. I am not bearing a heavy burden as I play soccer and hold babies and sit in the yellow church. I don’t carry a crucifix, as He did, during my time here. I am enjoying Him, and everything else stems from that. He is the tree of life, and I am the vine producing fruit.
I am lucky enough to get to partner with God in the expansion of His Kingdom all over this world. I get to experience His love in all different nations and feel His presence in different corners of the globe and worship Him with people of all different tribes and tongues and cultures. I am enjoying Him everywhere I go, and letting the overflow of His love spill from me onto others.
Sometimes things get hard, sometimes the days are slow, sometimes (all the time) I really, really miss Kentucky and my sweet momma, but above all I feel so blessed. How lucky am I to get to enjoy my God whose love for me is deeper than oceans and whose grace abounds endlessly. On the bus in San José and in the pineapple fields of Sarapiqui, I am enjoying Him. On the soccer field and in the church and sitting by the barb-wire fence to get wifi, I am enjoying Him. I am clay in the Potter’s hands, and I am loving the process of being molded and formed something more beautiful each and every day.
Without y’all, I wouldn’t be in Costa Rica enjoying Him. It’s you love, support, and prayers that have enabled me to go on this adventure with Jesus. To express the fullness of my gratitude would be impossible, so I’ll just say thank you. If you want to pray for me, you can pray that I am present where my feet are planted and growing in my relationship with The Lord. I am still in need of about $3,500 to finish the race, and if you feel led to support me financially, you can do that right here through this blog.
Gloria Dios.
For the Kingdom,
Ellen
