What a common question we all hear while growing up.. What do you want to be when you grow up? What does your heart desire? I predict my answers would have sounded something like this..
- Age 5 – Ninja Turtle
- Age 10 – Veterinarian
- Age 20 – Doctor
- Age 21 – Missionary??
I’ll be honest. I never saw that last one coming, but I’m so glad it did. Our Father has a great sense of humor, I’m convinced of that now! I am blessed to be able to have grown up learning that Jesus “loves the little children, all the little children of the world”. I prayed at night for everyone and anyone, including pets and superheroes! I guess what I’m trying to say is that I’ve always had a family and community supporting me in my journey of faith. However, there comes a time when each must claim their own personal relationship with his or her Father and I’m so thankful for a Heavenly Father who continually showed/shows me such amazing grace! A Father that understood his daughter had her priorities all mixed up, but continually reached out to her time and time again.
So, why am I going on The World Race? He has been asking me to be dependent on Him, and Him alone. He is calling me to abandon the control I never had! He is calling me out of my comfort zone in order for us to share something beautiful. Father, please lead me where my trust is without borders.
So what do I want to be today? Tomorrow? The day after? All His.
