How do 300-400 people worship in one room? The way they were created, that’s how. Can you disappear and make it just between you and the Lord? Yes. Do we care what others think or will we try to worship their way? I hope not.
As I look around I see individuals worshiping the way they are drawn the best to worship the Lord. Some have their hands raised, folded, or are clapping. I see some painting, drawing, reading, writing, singing, lying, standing, sitting, jumping, shouting, praying, dancing, yelling, crying, spinning, swaying, stomping, rocking, and arms stretched wide open.
There’s no end to the affection the Lord has for us. There’s no end to the way we can worship our Lord. We are all created in the image of God, yet still unique. Let us embrace that and come together to worship God in our own way.
We may come together as a group but it is all about you and the Lord, we just happen to be in the same room. When I look around and see one another praying over each other, that is when we have the opportunity to share in that worship together.
I can’t help but smile as I see and experience the Lord receiving a piece of the honor due Him. As much as this kind of worship used to weird me out, I now realize how much I am going to miss it when I get home. I don’t want to go back to the way most of our churches still worship. I’m not saying they don’t love the Lord, but I’ve seen more and I can’t settle any longer.
This is the kind of crazy community we all could use. I know it has helped me so much already.
