Jambo! Welcome to Africa! The Lord is calling me to fast internet this month, so you will not be getting to read this blog until the end of this month.
Today is day 3 for being at our ministry site in Busia, Kenya. Previous to that we spend 5 days at debrief in Nairobi where I was sick the entire week. I got that out of the way and now am ready for an amazing month. So far, things are very well…here’s what’s happened already.
Let’s see, the water here is boiled even before the locals drink it, so we have bottled water. Brushing our teeth is from the boiled water because it has Typhoid in it if you don’t…we found that out after a couple people had brushed their teeth already so we’re building up our immunities. Oh, did I mention that the water we boil comes from a well? Maybe I’ll get to build up my muscles by pulling up the bucket all month. Showers, yes those come from buckets of the boiled water also, which means they will be limited because it takes a lot of water to boil to bathe 14 people.
We will begin our construction process tomorrow; we’re building an office for the church. A good manual labor job is a welcome adventure for this month. I’ll keep you posted on that.
So Africa here we go. We have very hospitable hosts and a chef who makes us delicious meals. God is going to do great things here in Kenya and the entire 3 months we will be on this continent.
