This week our leader gave us the prompt to blog about something the Lord has shown us or revealed to us. I’ve struggled with this topic all week up until yesterday when I was flipping back in my journal and a common theme all week was about patience. In all different types of all different reasons. Some of the patience I’ve been learning is kinda ironic because we are looking after and serving the kids “patients” at ministry.

Friday night we had a debrief of the week and we’re asked to share things that frustrated us this week and I commented on how it frustrated me how we can’t understand what the tias are asking us to do with the kids. And our leader Aly had a very cool perspective. That it is hard and can even be a burden to those we are trying to help out with when we don’t speak the same language. That they have to show us now instead of just telling us. As well as this shows how much patience that they have not even for the kids who are their main focus but now they are having to have patience for us as we try to figure out what they are asking us to do.
As well as the tias having patience we also need patience as we are trying to make them understand us. It goes both ways.
The Lord this past week has been putting this on my heat I think for multiple reasons;
1. Living with 50 other people can be overwhelming and not having your own space
2. Each person to their own – everyone has their way of doing things that can be different that the way I do or like to do things.
3. Having 2+ teams in the kitchen cooking all at the same time can get really crowded and overwhelming
4. Feeding kids at camp hope that can barely speak let alone chew their food takes a lot of patience in order to love them threw them spitting it all back out on you
5. Being asked to do something thinking (in Spanish) and doing that task for a while only to find out your doing it all wrong and have to re- start

But growth doesn’t just happen. You need friction in order to dig deeper and come out better in the end. The lord has a very unique way of using our frustrations to make us look to him in times of need and know that He is Lord and He is patient with us so we should be patient with those around us.
