I’ve been struggling with how to even begin to give you all a glimpse into life on the race in Zambia. I’ve concluded that it’s impossible. So with that here are some new normal things that I honestly never thought would be normal.
- living in an African family’s home.
- never knowing if the power will be on or off. The city decides when the power is on each day(it’s never the same times)
- getting asked 30x daily if I’m taking syrup for my cough (yes)
- little kids climbing on the table as you eat
- same kids putting their hands in any open jar of food.
- going to the mall for WIFI
- getting yelled at 3 million times a day, because you are white
- no free space.
- boiled potatoes with salt and pepper is a suitable dinner
- bucket showers are a every 2-3 day occurrence
- coffee cost an arm and leg
- putting 46 people in 1 truck
- sleeping under a bug net
- having welts from bug bites
- getting dropped off on random corners
- getting hit on every 3min.
- crushing drunk guys dreams
- getting woken up by little African kids
- sharing a room with 5 other girls
- 5 hr church services
- consistently being asked for things (can I have your headlamp? How about your shoes? Your sunglasses?)
- Getting a shot a day
It’s amazing how quickly your normal can change. As you can see life in Zambia is never boring.
Merry Christmas From Zambia
