We’ve spent so much time
Allowing other people to put price tags on us
Telling us
Who we are
What we are
Athlete
Student
Mom
Daughter
So what happens
When we take that price tag off
When the adhesive of “Hello My Name Is” loses its stick
If the name that we’ve spent years forming for ourselves
Isn’t really us
It can’t be read by other people
Then what happens
Then who are we
If the world can’t read our price tag
We tell ourselves that our price tag says
Worthless
But when the Lord sees our name
He doesn’t see a price tag
He doesn’t see something that can be bought
Not because we’re worthless
But because we’re priceless
We carry worth that only Christ can buy
Our love can’t be bought by anything else
Not by a guy’s love
Not by good grades
Not by a sports record
Not by good Christian activities
The Lord is in the business of taking our price tags
He takes our tag reading “free”
And He exchanges it for new price tags, reading
“Not for sale”
“Priceless”
He gives us a bold statement
A declaration to wear proudly on our chests
Telling the world of our freedom
Singing of our true name
Born again.
Beautiful daughter.
Priceless.
