We’re getting ready for Israel.  We’re leaving tomorrow.  Oh man.

I’m excited about seeing the sights and being in Israel for Christmas, but there’s a caveat or two to our time there.
First of all, I’ll only be posting blogs once a week.  And it won’t be me posting them.  Grant will be collecting all our blogs on a jump drive and uploading them for us.
Why?  I’m glad you asked.
Our new squad leaders have asked the whole squad to take December as a month of technology fasting.  That means no computers, no iPods, no cell phones, nothing.  We will get one day a week to use our computers exclusively for writing a blog.  The purpose of the fast is to truly abandon ourselves and what we’ve left behind to pursue what God has in store for us.
I’m not anticipating this to be an easy thing.  My mother’s birthday is December 13.  Mine is the 17th.  Christmas (need I remind you) is the 25th.  You couldn’t get much more of a family month.  Once we’re in Africa, the fast is over.  I don’t know when exactly that will be.  Keep Sofia in your thoughts and prayers while we’re processing the decision and learning how to seek God in the midst of it.
Another thing to keep in your thoughts and prayers is my support raising.  God’s been really faithful with provision, and I’m almost at the finish line.  The next deadline for me is February 1, by which point I need to have raised another $2435.  Pray, spread the wordmake a contribution, whatever your heart feels led towards.  Every action and every contribution helps and makes a difference.  You’re part of this journey too.
I’ll see you when I see you.  Happy (belated) Thanksgiving, and Merry (early) Christmas.  Go hug someone you love.
