It’s the final countdown.  And it is CRUNCH time.

I got an email from the AIM staff yesterday about finances.  Here’s the deal.  I need to have 60% of my funds in my account by July 20.  I need to have 80% of my funds by November 1.  And by February 1, all my support needs to be in.  Here’s how much that breaks down to:

By July 20: $335 to go
By November 1: $3,335 to go
By February 1: $7,635 to go

I know those numbers sound big, but here’s something to think about.  February 1 is about seven months away.  If 111 people each contribute $11 a month for the next 7 months, that’s $1,221 a month, or $8,547 total, which will keep me on schedule, meet my ultimate goal, and allow for some extra funds in case of an emergency, or for reimbursement of vaccines and flights.

Each member of my team is living on about $14 a day, including meals, lodging, project materials, and ground transportation.  If you’d like to help, you can make an online contribution here.  Donations are tax-deductable.

If I don’t meet the first deadline, I will be asked to leave with a later squad.  If I don’t meet the later deadlines, I may be sent home before the end of my race.  I’m praying that those questions are never an issue.
