Good news: I hit the November 1 deadline for support raising! I owe a huge thanks to all who have been praying and supporting my Race and my team and following my journey these past three months, because without you, I’m nowhere. Thank you thank you thank you A MILLION TIMES thank you. I’m only $2525 away from the February 1 deadline, and I’m fully confident that there will be provision.
Bad news: now that we’re in pseudo-closed countries, blogging will be significantly more sensitive to cultural norms and the Muslim culture we will be surrounded by. I can tell you that Sofia will be heading to eastern Turkey on the 8th, a thirty-hour bus ride from Istanbul, and we’ll be conducting ethnographic interviews to get a feeling for the culture of the people in the city we’ll be living in. I’m actually really excited about it, because I was an anthropology minor in college, and we talked about ethnography, but never actually practiced it. I can’t wait.
Given all that, please keep comments on blogs sensitive to the culture that is around us. Encouragement is entirely welcome (and highly anticipated), but I ask you to exercise the same caution that I will.
I’ll see you after the bus ride.
