Everyone should have a friend like my friend Alex.  She keeps a watchful eye out for me, and plays the part of the concerned friend when it is called for, like with an email she sent me about a week ago.

Alex loves cupcakes.  One of her friends, knowing this, sent her the following graph, which Alex then sent to me.  It documents the correlation between number of cupcake shops in a city, and number of suicide deaths per capita.  Knowing that I hope to move to Colorado after the Race, Alex sent me the graph as a concerned friend, especially after noticing the troubling rate in Colorado Springs.  But who knows…maybe I’ll be the one to open aforementioned cupcake shop in the Springs.  The sky’s the limit, really.
In other news, I’m so excited to announce that my Race is fully funded!  I owe a huge debt of thanks to everyone who has made contributions, friends and family alike.  If you’re still interested in supporting my team, or if you’re supporting me monthly, consider switching your support to my teammate Joe.  He’s basically the twin brother I never had, and he has a gift with words.  If you haven’t read his blogs, I encourage you to do so.  He’s a gifted writer.
Speaking of the team, we’ve experienced a change or two in the past week.  After four months of Sofia goodness together, Grant is stepping down as team leader, and Andrea Pasquan from Team Fresh has joined us and taken the reins as our leader.  Consequently, April heard God calling her to take Andrea’s place, and she left us this afternoon for Tanzania and the rest of Team Fresh.  The status of Sofia’s name is still up in the air.  We’d love prayers for unity and peace in this time of transition before Thailand.
We love Eldoret.  So far, it is doing a pretty great job of loving us back.
