Not, however, a bus to eastern Turkey as previously expected. Team
Sofia’s arrangements for the month fell through the day before we
were supposed to head towards Diyarbakir. So after a few days of
well-now-what in Istanbul, we are essentially in another ATL month.
We’re heading towards the capital city right now, with no plans, no
accommodations, and no clue what’s in store for us.

Turkey is apparently well known for the hospitality of its citizens,
and we’ve certainly experienced a glimmer of that hospitality while
in Istanbul. Everyone on Sofia has been invited to tea at least
once, and we were given free apple tea at the restaurant where we ate
dessert waffles last night. Hopefully the music will open doors for
conversations and more hospitality from both sides.

I got emails yesterday from Justin, Sydney, and Jared, three sixth
graders from First Baptist Christian School in Butler, PA. True
confession: those emails kind of made my day.
