This month I’m living in Chiang Mai, Thailand!
Our ministry this month is unique in that we don’t have any!
Wait, what??
Team LOL has no hosts, no set ministry, no organized place to stay, it’s all up to us and all our reliance is on the Lord to guide us to places to stay and people to meet.
On the Race this is referred to as ATL “Ask the Lord.” This is great preparation for what life will look like for us in just a few short months when we will be living missionally while working in a secular American career. This also calls us to rely on the Lord in a different capacity than we have previously on our Race.
Also, for a side note to make you laugh and share our perspective-we just traded manual labor and trip advisor reviews for a hostel to stay in because every housing location is out of our budget. ha.
Brainstorming as a team we’ve come up with a plan for ministry we are hopeful to pursue this month:
-bar ministry to the women trapped in prostitution
-children’s ministry; possibly joining forces with another team 30 minutes outside of Chiang Mai who are working with babies with aids.
-working with the elderly
-coffee shop ministry
-tattoo shop ministry
-volunteering in special needs homes
-talking to monks in the temples
-volunteering in safe houses for women who have been removed from prostitution
The other half of the month is called “Unsung Heroes” this is where we seek out new contacts for Adventures in Missions. We are on the pursuit of new hosts in Chiang Mai who would be a great fit to partner with the World Race.
Supporters; prayers on prayers for this month. Prayers for the spirit to lead us the to right people to speak with. Prayers for our housing and financial situation. Prayers as we fully lean on the Lord to guide us. Annnndddd prayers for our PARENTS JOINING US!!!
At the end of the month the month we have PVT (Parent Vision Trip) where our parents fly to Thailand to worship, minister, and make memories together for 5 whole days!
We haven’t seen our families in 9 months; and honestly we aren’t the same people they said goodbye to back in America. This is an exciting but daunting time in our World Race journey. So, If you are reading this and will be seeing Michael Rowland in the next few days tell him to travel safely!
Peace and Blessings
Elizabeth
