Parent Vision Trip – What an amazing week!

Somehow hello, hi or any other greeting is not enough when you have not seen your child for nine months. It was an amazing reunion between Elizabeth and I as well as the other parents and their children around us.

It was amazing to see the young person you had dropped off 10 months ago had become a much more mature, spirit-filled and joyous person enjoying the simple things in life like a room by themselves, cold water to drink, hot showers and chicken nuggets with Chick-fil-A sauce.

It was hard at times to have the deep conversations regarding the future and what each of our visions were for where we would be trying to go in the next season, but that is how our relationship has changed.

It was also tremendous fun to share a meal out and to see the love of caring for their fellow racers as they invited those without parents to join us for meals.  All of the racers are amazing.

Day off was a cooking class and what a riot to cook Thai food and then enjoy our cooking.  It was delicious and I will never forget the chef asking if we wanted to make fire and then him helping us to create a fire in our wok while cooking the stir fry (several times).  Great memories!

The week was too short and then we had to say good bye as the racers headed to a bus and 30 hour ride to Cambodia. The Nutella Elizabeth and I purchased to be sure she had something good to eat in Cambodia did not even last the 30 hours. It was shared and enjoyed by many, and that is a good visual of how these racers have laughed and shared together for the last 9 months.

Two months to go and I will have her here again. I cannot wait.
