Hello again!
Since my last post I have purchased most of my essential gear (65 L pack, tent, sleeping bag, etc.) and received my passport! Things are moving so fast. In just eight days, I will be driving down to Gainesville, Georgia to start my World Race Training Camp. I will stay for ten days, and to be honest I have very little idea about what we will be doing. I know we will have worship at night, and we have a fitness challenge (3 miles in 50 minutes with our big pack – pray for me) but other than that, they do not release a lot of information about what training camp looks like because of the uncertainty that comes with a mission trip like The World Race. Training camp will be my first small taste of what life will look like on the race, and no matter how hard I try to plan for every scenario, I will never be totally prepared and a huge part of my spiritual journey is going to be learning that it is totally okay to be out of control a little bit. I will learn to rely on my squad mates and team leaders and to “go with the flow.”
I talked in my last post about my first deadline being met (yay!!) so right now my focus is on my September 16th deadline of $10,000. I made a T-Shirt through fund the nations that I am selling for $20 a shirt.
If you’re interested in one you can shoot me a text or email ([email protected])!! I also have bracelets through Threads of Hope, a non-profit organization that provides families in the Philippines a living for hand making and beading these beautiful bracelets, so half of the proceeds go to them and the other half goes to my trip!
I also want to take the time to thank you all for keeping up with my little journey, and tell you that the Lord has shown me through this process how incredibly blessed I am to have this community of people around me supporting me.
