Hi friends and family!
Recently I received the awesome news that I met my second deadline!! Woo hoo!!!
Soo… that means I AM MOVING TO CAMBODIA IN LESS THAN A MONTH!!
How crazy is that? Thinking back to May when I applied for this adventure of a lifetime I never thought that it would become so real. I’m flooded with lots of different emotions ranging from indescribable joy all the way to just downright terrified. As I move into this season of goodbyes, I find myself feeling grateful for almost everything. Even things I never would have even noticed before. I had to say goodbye to a few of my sweet friends and send them off to their colleges, knowing I wouldn’t see them (or be in the same country as them) for at least nine of the next ten months. As most of you know, I’ve never really had goodbyes like these before. I grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee and went to college in my backyard at The University of Tennessee, just like most of my friends.
This season is required to move into the next one though, and my heart could burst out of my chest just thinking about how my life will change in the next year. God has shown up in such big ways for me in the last few months. I can’t wait to see the story that he has already written unfold.
In just 24 short days I will travel to Atlanta, Georgia for another five day training session for what Adventures in Missions calls “Launch” and then my squad of 51 ladies will be on our way to Cambodia. I also forgot to mention in my training camp blog that I was selected as one of the squad’s two Logistics Coordinators! So what is a logistics leader on the World Race? A logistics leader organizes and guides the squad on travel days, organizes travel in between different countries (except flights), and mainly plans debriefs that we have every couple of months. We find lodging and travel companies, fun outings for the squad, and work within a tight budget. I think this will be an incredible ministry and a sweet way to serve my beautiful team/squad mates!
Sorry this blog post is a little short! While I’m overseas I will hardly have cell service so I encourage you to subscribe to this blog for all my updates! I’m going to try to update it bi-weekly while I’m on my race.
Love you guys lots!!
-Elizabeth
