In the couple of months I’ve been on The World Race the more I realize that the problems in each country are not uncommon problems that are faced in the States every day. Poverty, Sexual Assault, Rape, Child Neglect, Child Abuse, Greed, Corruption, Despair, Depression, Drugs, Alcoholism, Divorce, Broken Homes etc. The scenery may change but the chapter and story line are the same. That is what is so unsettling. We are a “rich” nation yet we have the same problems that are in 3rd world countries. The difference is we have more resources more readily available than in other countries. The sad thing is that many people don’t take advantage of these aides, so at times it feels as a nation we don’t advance.
The beauty of new countries is not just the good differences but also the similarities. The sense of family, the sense in pride in our country, the pride in education, the desire for a better living for our children, etc. but the most beautiful similarity is the same heart for Jesus. Although miles apart from my home church and my church community, and my home and familiarity His presence is ever present. I find His love and grace and presence, the Holy Spirit, in all aspects, maybe more here. I find myself looking more here than at home. Not something I’m proud of but it’s how it is and how I’m feeling. I’m learning to not only look but find Him in all situations, in each crevice I walk, in each heart, and each eye I meet. He really is that BIG and that GOOD. I encourage you all to seek Him and you’ll find Him because He’s waiting for each of us. Love you guys and God Bless you guys!
