From Austin, Texas, where we like to “Keep it Weird.” About weird, how strange to go on a worldwide adventure and to actively serve my King along the way! Not kidding, this was a dream of mine a year ago, but I never imagined it could actually materialize and manifest itself into reality. Wow- What a big God! In February 2006, I wrote in my journal about how I’d like to go on a “World Tour” and experience missions- this was six months before I even heard about the World Race. Crazy how He prepared my heart before I even knew this was an option.

I just graduated on Saturday from the University of Texas. I now have Public Relations degree with a minor in Business. I also wrapped up work last week. I’ve been working as a Recruiter at Four Seasons Hotel for the past year. I loved working there, and I really enjoyed the hotel industry. But, I knew that I wanted an adventure after graduation, and I wanted to serve the Lord through mission work. In early fall, I was telling my friend Dawn about my post-college plans over dinner. She has been involved with AIM this past year, and after hearing my frustrations, she suggested I look at the World Race website. I suppose the rest is history. I sat on the idea for a while, read some of the current blogs, and prayed for direction. And, thus, a few months later, here I am.

I’m #2 of 4 kids. I have awesome parents that love the Lord. Some of my hobbies include: embracing awkward moments, doting over my yellow lab, Sugar (many hours have been spent admiring this canine), chilling with my family and friends, coffeeshopping it up (Austin has a million), journaling and spending time in the Word, random road trips, listening to my roommates evolve the English language, and a bazillion other things, including, but not limited to: chocolate. Luvvvv it!

I became a Christian at a very young age- five years old. There have been some major milestones in my walk with Christ, but for the most part, it has been a gradual, steady climb. In college, I have been challenged to “own” my faith. It is no longer my parents, but mine. God has taught me so many things during this time, but more than anything, I feel like He has prepared me for this moment in my life. College was a time of healing and restoration, but now He has granted me the freedom to step out on faith. I claim Proverbs 3:5&6 as my life verse, for it has been so relevant to every area of my life:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall make your paths straight.”

What a great God we serve, He’s in the details ☺

By the way: I can’t wait to get started!
