I started the day with a plan to work on a Tilapia pond, moving rocks to provide food and jobs for the Honduran people. God had a different plan in mind.
On our way up the mountain to The Valle de Angeles, Teresa’s truck started to break down. The drive shaft had come loose and we needed a specific bolt to tighten it back into place. This is when God started lining things up perfectly for a miracle to happen. We happened to break down just a few blocks from a shop that had the bolt we needed, something that normally would have only been found 30 min away in Tegucigalpa. The problem was that we did not have a jack to lift the car and screw in the bolt. However, we were less than a block away from a tire shop with the jack we needed: the next step in God’s plan.
I was sitting in the middle seat in the front of the truck so Teresa instructed me the first time we stopped to put my foot on the brake in case the car started to roll, even though it was parked with the emergency brake in place, so I moved to the driver’s seat and I was ready to do what she told me to, even though I didn’t expect to have to do it. When we stopped at the tire shop to jack the car up and fix the shaft, it didn’t register to me that I should be in the driver’s seat again, or that it would still be necessary for me to put my foot on the brake. I had simply just forgotten about it all together, and I remained in the middle seat when Teresa stepped out of the driver’s seat to help the men working on the truck. The car was in park again and the emergency break was on.
Two men where under the front tires on both sides of the truck when the car began to roll. One of them was Donny, A North American missionary who has been helping us with the pond, and the other was a Honduran mechanic, the owner of the shop. They had triggered something that kicked the car out of park and into neutral. Suddenly, My body was taken over and I found myself with my foot on the brake only a second before both men would have been crushed under the tires. I didn’t even know that they were under the truck at that moment. There is no way to explain what happened except for that God intervened and used me to save the lives of two men in a split second before my brain could comprehend it.
Normally I would have chalked everything up as coincidence.  We just got lucky that we were in the right place when the car started acting strange and I just happened to be in close distance to the brake. But there are no coincidences in God’s plans for us. Those of us in the cab of the truck had even contemplated getting out while the men were working but something stopped us from doing so. Teresa felt the need to ask for prayer before she got out of the car. I am entirely overwhelmed by what happened and it is amazing to me that The Lord used me in such a miraculous way, on a day that I only expected to move rocks and build a dam. When we are aware of the presence of The Holy Spirit, we act on His understanding and not on our own. As a team we have been practicing coming into the presence of God on a daily basis but I never expected something like this to happen to me.   I know that it was not on my own reflexes that jumped to slam on the break. All I know is that The Lord moved through me and I am in awe of Him! The Honduran man prayed with a few of us after it had happened, and I am convinced that his relationship with God will never be the same again!

This is the Mechanic. I don't know his name.
