So my team is at a school in Santo Domingo, Guatemala and it is our first day of ministry in the country. We are there to serve food for the children’s lunch but there is not enough space for everyone to dish out the meals, which consisted of tortillas, rice, and beans. Therefore, I decided to make my way to the soccer field/ playground to play with the kids that were having what looked like recess. They all had red balloons and appeared to be having a great time, so naturally I wanted to join them and see what they were up to. As I walked out there, about 15 kids noticed me coming their way and started chanting “gringa, gringa, gringa” (which means "white girl, white girl, white girl"). They all came running and embraced me in a giant group hug. It was beautiful and humbling at the same time.

I am only telling this little story because it was one of the greatest experiences I have had on the race so far. It seems so simple, but I was so blessed to see the excitement on their faces when they saw me. I had nothing to offer them but my presence and they were so incredibly eager to spend time with me. I went to the school to play with these kids to show them the love of Christ, and they ended up reminding ME of His love. All I have to offer The Lord is myself, and He is so eager to meet me in His presence. He is so eager to see me everyday and He delights in me. When He sees me coming, He takes off running. It is times like these that make this journey incredible- the times when we least expect to be taught and reminded of our Maker. This is what real life is all about. This is the World Race.
