Hello friends and family,
I would like to shared with you all the ministry that my team and I have been working with for the past 3 months. For those who know me know that I have always had such a heart for children and adults with special needs and a few years back I was able to work at a camp called Joni and friends. All to say when I heard that our ministry in Ecuador was going to be working with children and adults who have been effected by disabilities I was very excited to say the least. Our days consist of walking about 30 minutes to our ministry site called ‘Camp Hope’, our day can look fairly mundane, walking with the kids, playing music with them, doing some physical therapy, feeding them and brushing their teeth, you get the idea. Or some days can be full of crying adults or children, cleaning up after they throw things at us, cleaning them after they can’t make it to the bathroom and such. I throughly enjoy the ministry we do each and everyday but I would be lying if I said everyday was rainbows and hearts. One of my favorite things about our ministry is that we are able to not only build relationships with the kids but also the employees who work very hard. There are about 30 children and adults ranging from ages about 3 to 35 years old. My heart breaks for the 18 children who don’t have families to go home to after the day, these children go to a home called Casa Hogar. Currently we have 3 days left with these amazing people before we head off to baños for FINAL DEBRIF! I cannot believe this trip is coming to an end we have 11 more days total until we get on a plane heading towards home. My emotions feel all over the place at times but I’m so incredibly grateful for this opportunity I have to be here and invest in these people and my relationship with the Lord.
