Hey guys !

My squad and I have been training in Gainesville, Georgia for about a month and a half now, learning about intimacy with God, what true community looks like, and surrendering old habits to the Lord. While living here we weren’t sure if we would have any ministry opportunities off the base, with COVID-19 and guidelines…

At the beginning of October, our squad mentor and leaders sat us down for an announcement, being that we would be able to leave base, and travel to Louisiana for a week of ministry!

In late August Hurricane Laura hit the western area of Louisiana, in places like Lake Charles, DeQuincy, and Deridder. This was one of the worst hurricane and damage that the area has received, and not long after Hurricane Delta hit the same area. After two hurricanes, strong winds, and even tornadoes, many homes were left destroyed and unlivable.

Our squad had the opportunity to partner with Samaritans Purse in Deridder and Lake Charles in manual labor, clearing branches, and tarping roofs.

Going into the week I was really pumped to get my hands dirty and really apply all these things we were learning in Georgia.

By the end of the week the Lord was really teaching me about my physical ability and being still in his presence. There was a moment on the roof when I needed to hammer down a nail, which is something I can easily do. For some reason I kept on missing and felt really embarrassed. finally, once nailed down, the Lord spoke “breathe, and be still”.
