The WORLD RACE!!!
a TON of people have asked me this question up top. So I am going to take a chance to explain to you what the World Race is, why I am going, and how you can help!
Just to hop right in, the World Race a 9 month long missions trip that I’m going on starting next September going into the following June. Many might be wondering, “Doesn’t that mess up your college plans?” Well the answer is oh heck yeah it does. Also I didn’t really have college plans in the first place to be completely honest. I am not going to college until I get back (hopefully). Instead, during the 9 months that I will be spending on the field I will be going to Guatemala, Ecuador and Nepal! Three very different places with very different cultures. We (my squad) will be helping out in each of these countries. This ranges from doing the dishes at the base, to going out into the real bad places in town and telling people about Jesus! But the fun does not just end there. The World Race leaders provide Racers with amazing tools to use in developing not only their relationship with God and others, but with themselves. So if I come back a little different, that’s why! The level of discipleship that this organization brings is so insanely good. It is going to allow me to understand why on earth I am the way that I am, why other people are the way that they are, and why God is the way that He is. Through the understanding that will be brought, I am going to be able to love people even deeper then when I leave. This is one of the big reasons that I am going. Not only to serve, but to love through it!
I actually had the chance (yesterday?) to spend some time looking through all of my old notebooks. I found that on October 22, 2018, it was the first time I had put into words that the World Race was something that I would consider doing! So more than a year ago! The really long process went from a growing seed, to me really talking about it with my parents, and eventually inviting my closest people to seek the Lord about it with me. So this was not just a whimsical decision, even though they can be fun sometimes. Through the entire process of the decision to apply I felt so much encouragement and kindness from the people around me. I can already see some of the things that the World Race is doing for me! I really am so excited to have the chance to love people in far out places who haven’t been genuinely loved before. I am excited to grow close to the people who will be with me. Where we can laugh and cry and be angry and be overcome with joy together. I am so excited for the chance at even more intimacy with Jesus. Cause that is really really important. This trip is going to challenge me real real hard, and it’s real real exciting. If you want to talk more about it! FEEL FREE to dm me. Or e-mail me. I would love to talk to you!
How can you help?
Aw thanks for asking. It means a lot. Well, since you asked, I am spending the next months in preparation for the trip! Most of this preparation holds this daunting idea called fundraising. I need to raise $15,800 to go on this crazy trip! There are a LOT of fundraisers that I am going to be doing, so all I need from you is to participate. But only if you feel led. If you feel that little tug in your heart when you see the ask, then please don’t ignore it! It’s probably the Holy Spirit telling you what’s up. To donate, you can either go to my blog page and hit the big DONATE button, or you can venmo me! My venmo is @Elijah-McGrail. And if you please, tell me what you want it to go to! It can be gear, flights, food, fun money, clothes, tattoos, hair dye, paper. Really, anything related to mission work. Again, if you have any questions, please ask. My social media is in my contact tab. If I don’t know the answer, then bear with me. I am also learning just like you!
I can’t wait to go on “the what?”. And I’m so very happy that I have the chance to invite you into it. Whether that be prayer (oh man I ALWAYS need it), money, or just friendship. So. With that said, I really appreciate you reading this. It means you are officially cool in my book. Stay tuned for more on every platform I so happen to be on.
