I am so incredibly grateful for this opportunity. My heart is overjoyed!

So why did I choose the World Race?

I found out about the race a while ago but it wasn’t until many months after graduating from college that I felt the need to apply. I also looked into other mission opportunities but God affirmed in my heart that I should pursue the Race. It is a dream come true!

I want to live out my faith actively with a brave heart. I’ve been filled with lots of truth and wisdom during the course of my walk with Christ and I feel the need to teach and help others find hope in Him.

I want to honor and trust the sense of calling that has been placed inside of me. I am in NO WAY capable of doing the race on my own, but I know that God will work in my weaknesses and strengths to help me spread his light. Trusting is so dang hard because there is not an ounce of me that can control this journey, but I’m learning that this is completely okay because God is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine-Ephesians 3:20.

I want to experience different cultures and gain a better perspective of the world. I recently heard a quote that said “You can’t solve a problem you don’t understand and you can’t understand from a distance.” I want to encounter different people’s lifestyles, listen to their stories, learn about their views and understand their struggles and joys.

Do I need to travel to eleven countries to help others and share the gospel?

No!

Brokenness exists in every corner of the world including the U.S. We are just as spiritually in need as people in third world countries. The World Race is an opportunity that I feel the need to pursue during this stage of my life but I truly believe that God can shine through people everywhere in a million different ways.

Here is some info about the Race:

This beautiful video sums it up pretty well plus it’s more fun than reading 🙂

I am a part of August Route 2. There are 55-65 racers on my route but I will mostly be adventuring with a group of 6-7. These are the countries we will be visiting: Lesotho, Swaziland, South Africa, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Haiti, Dominican Republic.

We will be spending one month in each country, partnering with local organizations and churches. Some of the activities include preaching the Gospel, teaching English, caring for orphans, feeding the hungry, building houses and much more. We  will rely on the Holy Spirit to guide us and help us do the will of God by fulfilling the needs of the people we encounter.

Fundraising:

AHH. The cost of the trip is $16,961. It will cover my food, lodging and travel for the 11 month period. That number is scary I know, but I also know that God is faithful to provide!
