What’s goin’ on in South Africa (ZA) ?

Good question… so much that I don’t really know myself… here’s a little bit

Ministry baby

So far, we’ve helped with a few different ministries since being here in ZA

Trans Bavians Bike Race: My team helped serve and take care of bikers half way through their 240 kilometer bike race through the mountains

Father’s House: We had the privilege of spending our days at Father’s House church and helping set up a women’s conference they were preparing for.

What I’ve learned

  • There is segregation in South Africa. Apartheid is over but its effects are still present and heavy.
  • Living in community on the race is different than anything I have ever experienced. Alone time doesn’t exist. Not even when you shower, go to the bathroom, and sleep… I LOVE IT. But it has shown me the importance of making it happen yourself. (Something I will work on next week)

Spotlight

Danushka (we call her Dani because we are Americans who can’t say her name correctly.) Dani is an intern at Father’s House Church who welcomed us and made us feel right at ome. I learned more from this 17 year-old than anyone else so far. She is outgoing and funny and always happy and I want to be like her when I grow up.

Words of the week

lekker- Afrikaans slang for cool. They say it in every sentence here so maybe everything is cool.

“Jesus was never in a hurry. The “race of life” is not a race. Slow down, like Jesus did, and give your time to the people and things along the way.” -Dean Cothill, Father’s House Church See John 11

To my supporters,

Great things are happening here in Jeffrey’s Bay….. and it wouldn’t be happening without your support. This week, our team has enabled the church to reach out to hundreds of women and tell them about their worth in Jesus. This wouldn’t be happening without YOU. Thank you for your support!
