Today marks my half way point on the World Race! Ahh… that
elusive benchmark that always seemed so far away; it’s hard to believe I’m
already here. In some ways it has flown by, but time surely has a way of
playing tricks on you. My life is already so full from the past six months…it
seems impossible that by the end of this journey I will have twice as many
memories, faces, places, or pictures on my hard drive. Where do they all
GO? My heart is already bursting at the seams.
God has blessed me in big ways on this trip. He has put so many
unique and wonderful people in my path this year. Here are just a few of their
faces:

There are so many more people I could mention of course. From the bush of Africa to the mountains of Nepal to the slums of India, God’s people are found everywhere! This past Sunday we had a church service at our ministry site
and there were missionaries from all over the world in attendance…from Sweden, South Africa,
Canada, Mozambique, Peru…you name it. It is great to see how God mobilizes his people all
around the globe! You just never know where you will end up. My itinerary for the next five months consists of South Africa, Thailand, Cambodia, Australia, and Malaysia.

Here are just a few of the things I have been learning this year on my journey (which I shared in my newsletter as well):

  • God’s plan and timing in our lives is
better than anything we can imagine for ourselves! Our dreams of what God will
do need to be greater than our memories of what has been done in the past.
  • God has called us to love the unlovely
and have compassion on the outcast. This command is not just a nice idea…it is meant
    to be our everyday reality.
  • God is the only constant in our lives.
He cares not only about the big picture but also the small details of our
lives, which have a purpose in His plan as well.
  • We were never created to carry around other
people’s expectations of us like a burden. We need to walk in the freedom Christ
offers and live a lifestyle of joy.
  • A person’s possessions & wealth is
no indication of whether or not they are experiencing the provision of God…a man
is not measured by what he has but by what has him.
  • God’s promises are like the rudder of
a ship. What we do with those promises determine the direction of our thought life
    and eventually effect our reality.
  • God cares a lot more that we love Him
& have a relationship with Him than he cares about anything we could do for
His Kingdom. When we come to Him He wants us to be open and real…not pretending
we have no problems or to have it all together.

I will close with you a video of my journey thus far. Thank you to all of you who are sharing in this adventure through your prayers, financial support, and your encouraging comments. May the Lord richly bless you today!
