Hola amigos…thanks to many answered prayers I was able to leave for Guatemala as I hoped by the end of April. I have already been here for one week (although it feels like a lot longer of course). I received an enthusiastic ‘T squad’ welcome at the airport from several of my World Race Squad mates who are also down here serving. It was so good to see them after a long journey beginning at 3 AM! I started brushing up on my Spanish right away as I walked the cobble stone streets of Antigua. I went to the market to help buy fruit and vegetables for dinner and met some of the Guatemalans they have been discipling here.
I quickly dove right into daily life here at the Guatemala discipleship base. It has been busy, but rewarding and I already see a lot of fruit and personal growth from my time here. The team is awesome and really has a desire to seek out the heart of God for this nation and hear his voice in everything they do. It is inspiring to be around!
Our days all look very different from eachother (much like the World Race) and it keeps me on my toes. Today I had the privilege of helping lead a woman named Ophelia to the Lord. She had tears in her eyes as I began to tell her that the Lord sees her as beautiful and there is nothing that she could do to earn His Love or lose His love…that she is accepted just as she is. She has been hurt by the church before because of her outward appearance, but she says she knows it is what is in the heart that matters.
