Im sitting in the living room right now with probably the most talented people I’ve ever met. Currently two people are playing guitar, one is playing the balalaika, Daniel is teaching Crystal Russian and cousin Pasha just picked up a mandolin and started playing it. Oh and there’s also a clay sculpture going around of stitch that Vanya made himself just from memory, no picture. (He makes a lot of things out of clay and they are AWESOME!) A list of what these people can do would take forever to write, but a short sampling would be that they can collectively probably play every instrument imaginable (including this huge one)

Sew, they are artistic, craft things out of wood and build basically anything, they do photography and are super creative and the other day we went rollerblading and watched Pasha and Luda do all these crazy tricks out of nowhere. Above all these things though this family we get to be with this month is amazingly gracious and loving. They are accepting and giving. Oh and there’s a lot of them, aunts, uncles, sons, daughters, cousins…Seriously where did these people come from?

This brings us to Babushka. She is not only the most adorable person but she embodies all those qualities I listed. There was a photo album going around with old pictures of the family and their grandmother and grandfather. There’s a picture of grandma at age 8 playing a balalaika and it hit me, to get one huge wicked cool family, it takes one wicked cool grandmother. It’s a testimony of grandmother’s spirit, character, love of music and art, love for her family, and mostly her love of God that has been blessed and carried on through all these generations. She trusted God and He rewarded her. She trusts Him in her life, and also in the lives of her precious family. Now I know that these people are not perfect, and problems arise and are faced regularly. I know Babushka struggled in her life but what if this is why she is a person who trusts God?

Trust is a big word that is thrown around a lot, but it is so important. People who are trustworthy are so appreciated and are so special within relationships. People who I know that trust in what is true seem to have such a good outlook on life and carry out a positive attitude. Were these people just born this way? How are they able to trust and have such peace?

You see people, who trust God, and they are joyful and full of peace, but it took making it through times of sorrow and sadness and confusion for them to see that God is trustworthy always, and become people who trust God. Babushka trusts God becomes she knows that she can, but only because of times when she didn’t.

It makes you think about how important the whole process is, to let the whole scene play out, for lack of better words. It’s hard though, really really hard, and it sucks to be anxious and not trust and so we sometimes wanna fix our struggles right away or not do anything that would involve a high level of trust, but if the end of struggling and being uncomfortable is trust and a group of really cool grandkids (of course much more then that as far as this story goes) then that’s a pretty awesome result.

Just something that I’ve been sitting on, because I want to be someone who trusts.
