It’s the Andes. That mountain range that somehow borders the object of every gaze is the Andes.

I remember loving geography in school, limited and inferior though the curriculum was. There’s key places that stand out to me to this day. The Andes Mountains being one of them. And I knew they’re in Chile, but discovering that they’re in my front yard (not really) and thus far I’d only recognized them by their Spanish name was a blonde moment turning brown.

I love Chile. There’s alot of similarities in the sights, sounds, and smells of town to the Mexican culture that I am familiar with. The dog community is rather large here. Bread, cake, and coke is available everywhere.

Today I want to talk about my abode and its occupants.

As I mentioned earlier, our living quarters are connected to the church. There’s a large area for the place of gathering and/or games when we host events.

Events such as:

  • Every Tuesday afternoon we host the church ladies gathering. And I tell you, it’s really cool. We read the Bible, share testimonies, pray, sing, and laugh. There’s something really energizing about hanging out with these people. Especially the old ladies.

  • Every Friday night we host an open house youth gathering.

  • On Sundays we have the Sunday school classes in separate classrooms, with the adult one being around our kitchen table.

So our home is the home of the whole church family.

Here’s the kitchen:

My teammates and I do almost all of our own cooking so of course, lots of memories are made here.

My sleeping space:

Besides mice in the walls, here’s the seven occupants.
