On June 27, 2007, another boy was born to the Gomez family. Ismael Alvarez, the last of five boys, was born and is growing up in the city of Montero, in Bolivia, South America.
Today he lives with his mother, 53 year old Maria Gomez, four siblings, and his three year old nephew.
Mother Maria is dedicated and faithful in hard work to support her large family. Life was difficult, conditions were rough, but a faith and trust in Heavenly Father as Daddy of this family brought hope and a peace that indeed passes understanding. The “whys” of life would not hinder even a young lad’s hope.
Growing up Ismael believed in Jesus and prayed in faith, knowing the Father Who loves to give good gifts to his children.
The local church “Gethsemane” orchestrated a regular Sunday afternoon activity called “happy hour” for children in San Diego, Ismael’s neighborhood. Here Ismael met Pastor Pedro and his wife Esther and teachers from the school at the church; the Compassion Center.
Ismael attended every Sunday. He also started attending church on Sundays. He loves Sunday school and especially loved singing and playing with little children. He was often found kneeling when in prayer.

Ismael knew that he was past the age of eligibility to enroll in school with Compassion and be a part of their program. However, he also knew that if someone specifically chose him, he would be eligible. But, chances of that happening certainly were slim. Ismael prayed. He prayed in faith, believing.
God, as a loving Father, good and always faithful, heard the young lad’s cry and divinely orchestrated the means of meeting his need.
Now just yesterday, two months after meeting Ismael, I received the confirmation email of the sponsorship account completed. By the grace of God, Ismael not only is attending school, but also I’m am able to keep in touch with him through letter writing, sending pictures etc.
Compassion is a great organization that brings so many blessings to children in poverty.
Bring new hope and blessing to one such child today! You could be the answer to one child’s prayer. The difference you would make is huge. This child needs that difference.
God bless you!!
Remember, you too, were chosen.
You are so loved.
