I would never be the first to say I’m good at directions. I use my phone more as a navigation tool than any other purpose. Yet, being on the race I have found God has blessed me with the gift of direction. My team has been depending on me on numerous accounts to get them from place to place. I have found that I spend a lot of time observing different areas around town that later helps me to find my way easily. However, this isn’t the only way God has been showing me direction. I found that I viewed my life with Christ like being on a hogback road. Dictionary.com defines hogback as “mountain ridge with steep sides”. Growing up I felt like God expected me to stay on a narrow road and if I didn’t stay in those lanes I would fall off the steep ledge. That was intense pressure that I felt I could hold up to and gave me an excuse to not fully commit to the long road ahead. However, in Nepal I got to the point where I was tired of taking my own route, I was ready for a passenger. Since that moment I have had a sense of peace and direction come over me that I haven’t had in my life of being on my path. I have also let God be the driver and He allows me to just sit back and enjoy the sights. My relationship with Him is not a hogback road with dangerous edges, but a major city road. With new places to see and experience, different streets, and constant growth. I’m learning God’s an adventure and I’m willing to sit in the passenger seat for the road trip. I have now been dropped in several unfamiliar cities since being on the race and yet I have the greatest sense of direction. God has the map and I get to enjoy the journey He has planned out for me.
