After one more night at the children’s home, William decided that it was time to try and see if we could get to our ministry site.  We loaded up the van and the truck and left Redemption Valley behind and headed to our Barangay.  It was about 25 minutes outside the city in the opposite direction as the children’s home.  Due to all the rain over the past couple of days, everything was super green and luscious on the drive in!

We made it all the way to the Barangay and met the captain, Rommel.  He showed us where we would be staying.  It’s the nutrition center for the Barangay.  It’s a cozy little building with two rooms, a bathroom, and a little kitchenette.  We moved some furniture and got all settled in.

This afternoon was the first time we got to meet our contact, Pastor Jojo.  He is an incredible man of God that spends all of his time and money helping the poor in Malaybalay.  He is incredible.

We had the afternoon to get acquainted with the people and the culture of the Barangay.  We walked around a bit, talked to a few people, introduced ourselves to the local storeowners and important families, and had good conversation!

We start ministry tomorrow and can’t wait to see what the month holds.  I am so excited to see what areas of growth God calls out in me and my team this month.
