If you haven’t already done so, I would suggest you read “God Moving in Me” before reading this blog so you’re up to date on the groundwork!
God’s been doing crazy things. I am learning a lot from reading the Bible (even if it is quickly!). I am reading things that I have definitely read before but learning so much more from it. The name of the reading plan is Live Wonder Struck. I am praying every time I start reading that God reveal something new to be, something that will leave me wonder struck and boy is it working.
I had a conversation with another squad mate during debrief who is reading the Old Testament right now. It was refreshing to see her joy and amazement and the God of the Old Testament. Listening to her reading these stories and retelling some of the ones she’s read recently was so intriguing. She caused me to start reading the Bible with the same life and joy and wonder that she has.
Prayer is still hard. It’s still hard for me to remember to pray. It’s crazy, really. It’s crazy that in everything I do during the day, I sometimes can’t remember to just stop and pray. It’s so much worse when I don’t have my watch with that sometimes-annoying beep every hour.
Praying has also gotten easier. I like it more than I used to. I see the effects of prayer more now. It’s probably because I’m actually looking for them.
This month has been tough and prayer and reading the Bible has definitely been helping. Due to some things that happened this last month, I’ve felt God pushing me towards a month of screen fasting. I have realized that I rely too much on relationships at home and not enough on the new relationship that I am forming here.
I want to rely fully on God first and on my team second. I love each and every one of you at home and right now I need to focus on building and cultivating relationships among my team and my squad.
I’ll be screen fasting from the time I get on the plane to Cambodia on March 6th, until we land in India sometime at the end of March or beginning of April. I’ll be doing a summary blog for Cambodia at the end of the month. In the mean time, I encourage you to read my teammates blogs in my absence (the links to their blogs can be found in the left navigation bar of this page). Thanks so much for your support!
