This month we are working with Mr and Mrs Kumar at their center for learning. We are in a state in Malaysia that doesn’t allow the open discussion of the Gospel so I can’t name the place or the town that we are in. Being that we are unable to profess Jesus’ love here, we try to show that love through our words and actions. We are teaching English classes to children and adults this month.
Our schedule is looking pretty rough – 13-14 hour days most days. Most of us aren’t super thrilled about the ministry and the inability to share the Gospel, but we’re trying to have a good attitude about it!
So far, we’ve taught a few classes. We have homeschooling in the morning for four children. These classes are my favorite because it’s very one-on-one and you can really get them to focus and learn. In the evenings we have English classes for other children and adults. The adult classes go pretty well because they signed themselves up and are eager to learn. Most of the time they don’t even want to take breaks. The children, on the other hand, are rowdy, crazy, and sometimes not so eager to learn. It’s challenging to keep a 6 year olds attention for two hours straight.
My team is excited to be back together this month after being separated last month. We’re reading Mark together this month and hoping to learn a lot about the character of Jesus through that so we can portray him well here. We’re still figuring things out here – how to interact with the people, how loud we can play guitar and sing worship in the morning, when to fit in all our necessary family time, food and a lot more. Please pray that this month be beneficial for this town in Malaysia and for our team. Pray that we grow and fall more in love with Him.
