We had a fantastic 4-day weekend in Kuala Lumpur.  It was Laura’s birthday on Tuesday.  We stayed up late on Monday night and blew up balloons (100 of them!) and surrounded her bed with them so she’d be surprised when she woke up!  What she didn’t know when she woke up was that the balloons had secret messages in them.  The secret messages included challenges for her to complete throughout the day.  She had the choice to assign them to others or do them herself.  It was a riot to see us make fools of ourselves all day.

We went to an amazing cave.  It was astonishing and massive.  Of course, it was filled with Hindu paraphernalia.  It’s sad to see such a breathtaking natural wonder be overtaken by people with hopes in false gods and idols.  From the cave we visited the old train station, the police museum, and the flower garden.

The evening ended well with a birthday dinner at FRIDAYS (we know that we’re making a habit of that). Laura was gifted with the typical birthday song from the staff, but, surprise!, they don’t give you your sundae unless you do something in return.  Laura had to sing “I’ll Make A Man Out Of You” from Mulan while standing on her chair and then present a speech.  She did a great job and was a wonderful sport.

The next morning we had to say goodbye to Laura and Erin so they could go to a leadership retreat.  We decided to have Valentines Day a day early.  Christopher and I bought roses and chocolate for the girls, and strawberries for Erin.  We asked if they’d be our Valentines this year.  They all said yes, of course! 😉
