That’s right, folks!  We went on safari!  Unfortunately they don’t have Tigers or Bears in stock in Kenya, despite the video below.  On our way back from Kisumu, we stopped by Masai Mara and visited Johnny’s team.  They are living with the Masai right outside the gates of Masai Mara this month.  They invited us to stop by and visit with them and to go on a safari.  We also enjoyed a few beautiful sunsets and sunrises…

I’ve been extremely blessed to be able to go on quite a few safaris during my past visits to Africa.  That being said, they aren’t the most exciting thing in the world for me anymore – however, going with people that have never been before makes it fun again!  It was Tess and Erin’s first time on safari, among quite a few others on the team.  Newbies excitement and joy for the safari is refreshing.

Very shortly after entering in the gates we saw some lions and some zebra!

The guides drove us all to the airstrip (we weren’t entirely sure why…) and we took some great photos.  Here’s the four of us at the airstrip.

After the airstrip, we drove around and saw some more lions, elephants, zebra, gazelle, hippos, crocodiles, impala, and giraffes.  Unfortunately, we we’re able to see any Cheetahs, Leopards, or Rhinos.  We also were able to go to the Kenya/Tanzania border.  The border is marked with big concrete markers.  We were in Kenya and Tanzania at the same time!  Whoever said you couldn’t be two places at once was nuts….

Being on safari was a great time of rest for all of us.  It’s so incredible to see the handiwork of God up close and personal.  Every time I see an African sunset I wonder how there can be people on this Earth that don’t know that Jesus is alive and loves them.  The number of things that God created just for us to be in awe of Him is outrageous – African sunsets are just the beginning!

Enjoy this crazy video about Kenya!
