It’s been a wonderful month.  I am so thankful for all the opportunities that we had to love and be loved on by the people in Port Elizabeth (PE).  This last week has been wonderful.  We worked some more at the Human Dignity Center (HDC).  This time we worked with special needs kids.  These kids mostly struggled with dyslexia and ADHD.  They cause some major problems for teachers when they are integrated into the normal classroom.  Each one of us one-on-one tutored these kids each day.  My kids name was Moto.  He was awesome.  If you get him to stay focused, he knew a lot and was determined and smart.

I was able to go and look at a farm in PE that Adventures is considering running a DTS out of.  It was a beautiful place.  Unfortunately, due to timing and coordinating of schedules, I missed our last day of ministry at the HDC.  However, the rest of the team said the goodbyes for me.  The farm is amazing and I can’t wait to see how God uses Adventures to change people’s lives through that place.

The whole time we’ve been in PE, Cathy and I have been trying to go flying.  There is a man named Brett who is a member of the Lighthouse Family Church and he’s the chairman of the Flying Club here in PE.  He hooked us up with a young lady named Simone who offered to take us on a quick flight over and around PE.  We were super excited but every time we tried to make plans, the weather would be bad or she would have to go to work.  It just seemed like it wasn’t going to work.  Sunday was our last chance because we left PE on Monday.  We woke up on Sunday morning and it was a bit windy, but beautiful.

Long story short, we got to fly!  It was incredible.  Simone has been flying for five years and is working towards her ATP (Airline Transport Pilot) so she can fly for the airlines.  She currently has a tail-dragger that she flies.  It’s a crazy awesome plane!

Cathy and I were in heaven.  We got to fly right along the coastline at the altitude of 400-500 feet!  It was nuts!  Simone even let me fly for a good portion of the flight.  It was a little freaky, actually.  A super sensitive joystick controls it but I had it figured out after we almost crashed the first time I tried.  We were so thankful to Simone and Brett for the opportunity and the experience.

We arrived in Cape Town yesterday and spent the day exploring.  This is a beautiful country.  Our drive here was incredible.  We even got to bungee jump off the highest bridge in the world!  More to come on that next blog!  8 days until I’m home!
