This past week we spent the majority of our time at the Human Dignity Center, which is a project of The Jerusalem Project.  We’ve been busy painting and cleaning.  Erin and I finally arrived back from Jeffreys Bay on Monday evening.  We spent all of Tuesday cleaning the main hall and reorganizing some cabinets and toys.

Tuesday night we were privileged to be able to go to Brett & Sheryl’s house for dinner and a movie.  Sheryl is a great hostess.  We had a delicious dinner and then watched a hilarious South African comedy accompanied with popcorn, soda, and lots of chocolate.  We had a great time getting to know their family and Brett is a pilot who volunteered to take Cathy and me flying before we leave Port Elizabeth!

Wednesday I stayed back to get some R & R since I’ve been sick since we arrived in South Africa.  When the girls got home, they showed me a picture of what they did at the HDC.  Laura is a great little artist as shown below.

On Thursday, we returned to the HDC to finish up our painting projects.  Laura continued to work on her container mural and the rest of us painted some newly built walls in one of the classrooms.  Laura just about finished her mural.  It’s looking pretty good!

We have today and tomorrow off and we’re not sure what we’re going to be doing yet.  Hopefully Cathy and I will be able to go flying on Saturday if the wind isn’t too bad!

Next week, the HDC’s preschool through grade three will be back in session.  We’ll be heading there every day to play with the kids and help the teachers out as much as we can.  It should be a blast!
