Recently I have gotten these questions and more concerning my January expedition! As I approach my launch date, I want to answer them so that as you support me financially and prayerfully, you will be able to fully comprehend what the Lord is doing: Galatians 2:20 – “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
Who?
I will be spreading the gospel to people located in the 10/40 window with an organization known as Adventures in Missions, whose mission statement is Matthew 10. This is the passage where Jesus sends out his 12 disciples to go and reach the lost sheep. I encourage you to open your Bible and read it!
What?
Some have asked, “What is the 10/40 window?” The 10/40 Window is the rectangular area of North Africa, the Middle East and Asia approximately between 10 degrees north and 40 degrees north latitude. The 10/40 Window is often called “The Resistant Belt” and includes the majority of the world’s Muslims, Hindus, and Buddhists. The original 10/40 Window included only countries with at least 50% of their land mass within 10 and 40 degrees north latitude. The revised 10/40 Window includes several additional countries that are close to 10 or 40 degrees north latitude and have high concentrations of unreached peoples. I copied this definition from a very helpful website known as the “Joshua Project”. If you would like more information, I would encourage you to explore the website to educate yourself about this specific region.
When?
I will be leaving January 2017 and will not return until the end of November.
Where?
If you want to follow on a map my route, I am journeying to Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, China, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Spain, and Morocco.
Why?
Many people respond with a sour expression when I tell them I am leaving for a mission trip. “I bet she is just going for a cool trip” or “You just don’t know what to do, so you decided to go on a mission trip.” If that is honestly what you think, please do not fund me. I know I wouldn’t want to waste my money on some girl who is just trying to discover herself! I believe that the Lord has placed a calling on all of our lives to go and run hard after His sheep. Mark 2:17 says “And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.” Much prayer and sacrifice have gone into making this decision to leave my comfort, family, and friends for a year. I want to be a part of the call in Matthew 28:18-20! I desire to spread the best news in the world to a people group that have never heard it. So you ask why I have decided to do these things? I believe Martin Luther said it best, “I cannot and will not recant anything, for to go against conscience is neither right nor safe. Here I stand, I can do no other, so help me God. Amen.”
