~THE ISSUE~
Isn’t it fascinating that Jesus chose only twelve? Twelve. The God of the universe, in the form of man, walked side by side, in daily communion, with only a select few. They were his best friends and they confided so deeply in one another. He poured everything he had into those men, because why, he knew that those twelve men would go on to change the world.

Recently, God has really given me a heart for the topic of discipleship and what that looks like, especially pertaining to the American church, because I believe more than ever before, we’re missing it.
We hear so often about how the church is “losing its fire” and how people are walking out the doors of the church, only to return to whom they, “used to be.” It’s heartbreaking, but reality is, it’s happening all around us.
There’s a deeper disconnect than what meets the eye though, and I’m sure there’s probably several variables that add to the mess and chaos we find our current churches in today. Please hear me out, some church “get it”, but the vast majority are still lacking.
However, I think I’m on to something. God has really been speaking to me about one of the main variables that I believe isn’t helping the cause of the church.
We, the men of God, aren’t quite stepping up to the plate.

Currently I find myself back on the World Race, leading a squad of 57 (counting me and my two co-leaders). Our squad is made up of 46 women, and 11 men.
Yep, you read that correctly. There are only eleven men on this squad (and that number seems to be across the board for all squads). I also only had eleven men on my original race. Even in our churches though, there’s typically more women than men these days, even in ministry. Why is that?
First, I want to say this isn’t a blog to recruit men for the World Race, but if you read this and feel that conviction, that’s awesome. However, that isn’t my goal in writing this. No, my goal is to bring awareness to the fact that the American church would be exploding with new souls coming to know Christ, if we, the men of the faith, would be whom God has called us to be and do as we’ve been called to do.

(The men of P-Squad 3rd generation)
I’m going to break this blog into three parts. The first part being, bringing light to the issue, the second, how discipleship can literally transform everything, and lastly, about men specifically and what it might look like for us to live as men of God who are called by God.
To be continued…
