Rejection…

It’s a word that most of us are all too familiar with… It can run deep, and sometimes deeper than we realize…
The Spirit of Rejection is something I’ve battled for years. A lot of y’all are in the same boat. You’ve been hurt by family, friends, co-workers, etc… Something was said or done to you, and you began to carry a burden that was never meant for you to carry. It hurt, and it took root deep inside of you somewhere.
Now, I’m pretty sure where it began for me. The Lord has been revealing a lot of those things to me over the past few months. Little by little they surface, and I take them before His throne of grace, and He heals those areas and renews my heart, but it’s not always easy.

Sometimes, life just isn’t “fair.” People hurt us and wounds run deep. The heartbreaking thing is that hurt people unfortunately hurt people, but then so many times we allow ourselves to become the “victim.” Why? We feel sorry for ourselves? We want attention? Because we feel unloved? When The Spirit of Rejection is tearing away at your soul, we so easily lose focus on our calling to serve others, and we become focused on ourselves. Not to mention, we lose focus on Him.
The biggest thing I’ve been challenged with in the past weeks is resting in my inheritance and identity. Realizing my worth as a Man of God and also a Son of God! When we rest in that promise, we no longer need to feel rejected and orphaned. Why? Because the One who had every reason in the world to reject us, accepted and loves us!
“But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, CHRIST DIED FOR US!” Romans 5:8
Did you catch that?! God, already knew our hearts and that we would be a long ways from perfect…
If God has already accepted us and extended His love towards us, there is not longer a reason to carry the spirit of rejection. It has no hold on our lives… It can only have as much as we allow it.
The past 3 weeks I’ve been working out consistently with one of my best friends, Colby Gardner. He started a group fitness business called Triumph Fitness and I’ve already started to see a lot of change. I’m losing weight, becoming healthier, and gaining muscle. I’m realizing that one of the absolutely most important parts of that process though is throwing off all the things that are not healthy and are holding me back. Whether it is a need to be more active, eating better, resting more, etc… I have to change those things to help the process go better…

It reminds me so much of our walk with Christ…
We have to release those things that are holding us back, and press forward… For me, it’s been the spirit of rejection. It’s time to throw it off and move forward in my inheritance as a son!
Begin to live in the acceptance that God has freely given to you…
