Wow… Where do I even start…? Ha ha
Well, my name is Dusty Dills, I am currently 23 years old, and I am from the BEAUTIFUL MOUNTAINS of Western North Carolina, in a little town called Franklin! I LOVE being from the mountains! Great places to hike and camp and all that good stuff that me and my friends enjoy doing!
I become a follower of Christ on February 13th, 2002 at my home church, Cartoogechaye Baptist! I had started attending church there and also become a member of the CBC Puppet and Drama ministry. We traveled around to different locations and shared the Gospel through the puppet and drama ministry. I had been on the team for about 3 months when God broke me down one night and I realized that I needed to know the Jesus that we were telling others about… talk about humbling. Going to share the Gospel and realizing that I didn't even really know the true meaning myself! The Lord started a huge work in my life after that and it has been a crazy ride since then!
I have not always done right or lived like I should since that day, but one thing I have come to realize is that God has never stopped pursuing me!!! There is nothing that we can do to make HIM love us more or make HIM love us any less!!! Thats an awesome thing when you really think about it!
In 2006 my youth group attended a camp in Andrews, NC known as Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters. I actually didn't get to attend the week of camp myself, but become curious about it and the fall of that year I began to go and volunteer there. The next 3 years working and being able to be part of that ministry forever changed the course of my life and I believe had a massive impact on where I am today. I worked summer staff 2008 and 2009 with Snowbird and God rocked my world. I realized what Biblical community looked like and what it meant to really be conformed to the image of Christ! I also learned what "IN CHRIST ALONE" really meant. Next time you are doing your quiet time, ask yourself what those 3 words really mean… It will change your life.
During that time, I also took a few missions trips. I have been to Honduras, Thailand, Peru, and Burkina Faso, Africa. You wanna experience God IN A WHOLE NEW WAY… Go on a missions trip… if you are reading this and you have served on a trip before, you know EXACTLY what I am talking about LOL… Reality check. That is when I started to see the world didn't revolve around Dusty Dills.
I graduated college in May 2009 with a degree in Outdoor Leadership from Southwestern Community College. I loved going to college for that because its all the fun stuff I like to do ha ha… I work now at a local Christian radio station (WPFJ 1480 The Dove)… I know, I know, it has nothing to do with what I went to school for haha… Its okay though because I really believe it is a step in getting me to where I am now. I also work as a white water rafting guide on the scenic and FREEEEZING Nantahala River! I really enjoy that and have worked there for the past 4 years.
Some facts about me:
- JESUS IS EVERYTHING TO ME. PERIOD.
- I LOVE MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS! I have the best in both those categories 🙂 And as excited as I am to be on THE WORLD RACE… I am gonna miss all of them so stinkin' much… This quite possibly is the toughest thing I have ever done, is leaving them for 11 months.
- I LOVE REALITY TV… American Idol, Survivior, Amazing Race… You name it! And the LOST series isn't reality TV, but just might be the best thing to ever hit the TV HA HA…
- I really like mayonnaise… Sweet Tea… roller coasters… sky diving… my Nanny, Pappy and Mama's cookin!!!
- I have a HUGE Family… as in, there are LOTS of us… Mom, Dad, Stepdad, Stepmom, 3 Sisters, 2 Brothers, Brother-in-law, 2 Nieces, 4 Grandpas, 1 Nanny, Aunts & Uncles & Cousins… Lots of animals. HA HA HA
- I have the BEST friends in the world. We are all learning how to do life together and really live in Biblical community.
- I really don't care for flying too much… so if you think about it, pray for me as I travel to 11 different countries, because it in itself might be a time of spiritual growth for me… LOL
- GOD IS GONNA DO CRAZY STUFF IN THE NEXT YEAR. IN MY LIFE. IN THE LIFE OF THOSE I SERVE WITH. IN THE LIFE OF THOSE WE MINISTER TO. IN MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
