The second round was pretty intense, each side taking advantage of their minutes on the platform, arguing their points and disproving the others. Finally, one of the other team leaders, Allan, got up and, in a room of over 100 attentive Muslim university students, he began to share the Gospel. God was speaking through him and using him in amazing ways. By the time he sat down, all of the Christians were pumped up, hearts racing and smiling from ear to ear.

This is every missionary’s dream: to have a captivated audience of non-believers to share the Gospel of Jesus with.

To close out our time, Dustin got up to summarize why we were there and why we chose to debate with them: it was because we love them. Dustin began speaking of Jesus Christ’s love and how our main goal was not to argue with them, but to speak the truth and tell them about Jesus. With passion in his voice, he began speaking of how our goal was not to win the debate, but to proclaim God’s truth and have them read the Bible for themselves.

Ok, I may be his wife so I might be biased, but Dustin gave such a well-articulated summary of our love for people and the truth we are desperate to share. God moved powerfully in his words, and everyone could feel that. Later on after the debate, Chelsea, one of the girls on our squad, told Dustin his new nickname was ‘Thundermouth’ because of the confidence in his voice while sharing the love of Jesus.

We finished out the debate at 3:00, six hours of debate, and afterwards, many of the Muslim students came by to shake Dustin’s hand. Several of them even wanted to know where they could get their own Bible. What an incredible experience!

This is why we came on the World Race. To share the Gospel and story of Jesus Christ. To love them like He does. To boldly speak up about Christ. To be challenged and to grow in areas we don’t know the answers to. So Lisa, you would be proud. I know I was.
