So Wednesday morning 4:00 a.m. and we start waking up and packing up, and its raining. She might not come, I thought to myself. It’s a long walk and its dark, so she just might stay inside. 5:00 a.m., we eat breakfast and I am praying the whole time, looking out the window, “Please God, bring her down so I can at least pray for her before I leave. I would really struggle if I had those kinds of concerns and didn’t get the chance to say something about it.
5:30…5:45…6:00…No Michele!
We start putting our things on the Jeepney, and people are getting in the vehicle, and there’s nothing I can do.
6:15…I walk out the front door, the last one out of the house, and here comes Michele, bookmark in hand. I ran to her and gave her a huge hug, so thankful she had made it. We talked for just a minute, she gave me the bookmark with my name on it, and I asked her if I could pray for her before we left. This was my only chance to pray over her.
I prayed for protection over her and her family. I prayed for her to make wise decisions. I prayed that if she wasn’t suppose to go, that God would stop her from going and that she would make enough money working for Threads of Hope to send her daughter to school. I prayed hard. I thanked God for our friendship and closed our time together. I gave her one last hug, told her to be smart, be careful, and I would continue to pray for her. I got in the Jeepney and watched her walk away, wiping away tears from her eyes.

For the month of February, we will be in Phuket, Thailand working with an organization called SHE (Self Help and Empowerment). We will be working in the Red Light District evangelizing to prostitutes and trying to provide them alternative options to prostitution.
