I’m sure you’re thinking “Uhhhh.” Well that is exactly what i said (every time).
It is not uncommon for “Mzungu” women to receive at least one marriage proposal as they spend time in Africa. Typically there will be some sort of enthrallment from an African man and then very shortly after you’ll hear some sort of “I want you to be my wife!” or “Will you marry me?” It’s actually quite humorous and i find the situation entertaining.
The reasoning behind bringing this up is on the thought process of pursuit. Even though it is quite comical, African men know what they want and they go after it.
This has challenged my western mindset because somewhere along the way, I forgot I was worthy of the pursuit. It seems as if in my generation men are less likely to pursue and women are too likely to chase.
Here in Africa, there is no fear to chase after what you want because I know they are thinking, “Well it was worth the try. She could have said yes.” (Instead of “She would just say no.”)
The L-rd has been taking me through a journey of my worth, that I am worthy of a pursuit. He has been revealing Himself more as my Bridegroom King who has ravished my heart. The One who cannot get enough of me and wants nothing more than to be around me.
Pursuit.
Jesus Christ pursues me. He pursues you and He wants nothing more than to lavish you with His love. It’s sort of a north pole thought, “I am worthy to be pursued.”
Why is it that we think we are unworthy? What has happened that we think, “I don’t deserve it.” or “I’m not good enough.” It’s funny how Jesus Christ pursues each one of us ALL DAY, EVERYDAY not missing a beat, but somewhere religiosity consumes our minds with condemnation and how we don’t deserve it because of ‘what i’ve done’ or ‘the way I’ve lived’. Yet Jesus bore our complete past of sin upon the cross and has reconciled us to Himself.
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
[Romans 8:1]
G-d is not concerned with your sin.
G-d is not a past-present G-d. He is a future-present G-d who is only consumed in who He made you to be, not your past nature or old self of sin.
“In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.”
[Romans 6:1]
G-d is not interested in who you are not, but who He can be for you and He has created you to be.
You are worthy of the pursuit of G-d. In His eyes you are made perfect once you give your life to Him and repent of your sins. Once that is finished He no longer sees your past but sees His perfect son/daughter. He see’s majesty.
G-d only relates to you & see’s you in the New Nature.
It’s time we look ahead and stop focusing on all of the negative, the sin, & our pasts. That has been done away with because of the glorious cross of Christ and we no longer have to be bound in its condemnation. We must strive to develop the new nature which says “We are made like Jesus Christ! I am worthy of His love and His pursuit.”
