First official day in Nepal and I find myself in a hospital bed, hooked to an IV.

Rewind.

We left Tanzania on the 30th and in the midst of our travel day I felt horrible. The entire morning at the airport I was fighting to not pass out and I didn’t understand why I felt so horrible. We finally get into the airport to check in and I found myself on the floor thinking I can’t pass out, I don’t want to miss this flight and stay in Africa. Just as the light was going dim (dramatic, i know, but its honestly how it was) my friend Zach rushes over to me and says, “Hey there are some missionaries from Heidi Baker’s school. Do you want them to come pray for you?” I’m thinking DUH! Get them the heck over here. Kindly, I nodded & they came over. I’m practically delusional, pale as a ghost and only half there and they begin to pray for me. As they were praying, I felt the blood come back into my face and my mind starting to cooperate. Praise G-d.

After they finished praying I felt like a new person with just enough strength to get through security and on the plane. Our flight took us to Doha, Qatar where we had a layover for 8 hours and was able to stay at a hotel near the airport, all generously provided by the airline.

I highly recommend flying Qatar airlines whenever possible.

The next morning with only a few hours asleep, we arrive back at the airport and take our flight from Doha to Kathmandu, Nepal. The nation is by far one of the most breathtaking countries I’ve ever flown into. There is absolutely nothing like the mountain terrain here. We arrived in the late afternoon and finally got to our contacts home around 7pm. I was starting to feel pretty bad again, along with two other people that were bit by the African bug of G-d knows what so we decided to go to the clinic. Let’s just say the doctors advice was not great and whatever medication he gave me made me feel even worse by morning, so my friends talked me into going to the hospital. We arrive and they check our vitals and very quickly after checking mine, they said we need to get her in this bed and on an IV.

Well that was fast and not exactly what I expected. Later after blood was drawn and tests taken, we find out I got the wonderful African Typhoid. 9 hours later with a doctor bill around $85 USD and some antibiotics we leave the hospital and I started to feel better.

All this to say I’m fine now and with the help of G-d, doctors, and antibiotics, I’ve kicked this typhoid in the face. Nepal is a beautiful country and we have an incredible month of ministry ahead of us. Our contact, Rueben is taking us into the mountains tomorrow to minister to unreached people groups, work in an orphanage, and minister at football (for you Americans – Soccer) tournaments. I’m really excited to see what G-d is going to do in this nation and how He will unveil the people of their false idols.

I serve a good G-d who loves these people and is jealous for their hearts.

“The L-rd is righteous in all His ways and loving toward all He has made. The L-rd is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth.”
[Psalm 145:17 – Highly recommend meditating on this chapter]

Thank you for all your continual prayers and support as I finish up the next two months of the world race! :] Bless you all with the peace & love of G-d.
