I made it to Manchester!
As many of you already are aware I made it to my new home about a week and a half ago and I am settling in and loving it here.
My first three weeks in England have been overwhelmingly blessed. At the start of my trip, Kayla Dawnn and I were able to get on the same standby flight out of Atlanta to London which was such a God ordained gift since I was coming all the way from California! It was a whirlwind of a trip and a pretty long flight but Captain America accompanied me on the way across the pond to help me remember my roots. We stepped foot into Heathrow airport a little before noon on Saturday morning and jumped through customs, picked up our bags, and I got a new sim card for my phone straight away.
Our first experience of the tube was out of the airport all the way across London to the East side where we were blessed to stay with three beautiful women who had random connections with some of our World Race friends. Kayla Dawnn and I got to experience the premiere of the new series of Doctor Who alongside the rest of England on BBC1 after we had a proper dinner of fish & chips. The next day we ran around the center of London getting to explore Big Ben, the London Eye, the River Thames, Houses of Parliament, Trafalgar Square and China Town. Such a whirlwind of a day but so great and actually sunny!
A few days later we went and stayed down south with one of our friends who met a bunch of World Racers on the field in Rwanda and attended David’s Tent, a three day long worship experience with continuous worship for 72 hours straight. It was such a blessing to be able to meet with God first thing in such a fun and free way before my internship in Manchester even started.
We were able to connect with friends from G42 in Spain as well as other World Race alumni who have a heart and passion for Europe and the UK. We shared about the World Race Fusion with other David’s Tent attendees, spent hours dancing around under the tent worshipping alongside John Mark McMillen, Jonathan David & Melissa Helser, Sean Feucht and various others. It was amazing.
After Kayla Dawnn and I left we made our way straight up to Manchester to get me moved in to my new home. I live in a lovely house with a wonderful girl who also attends my new church, Vinelife Manchester.
I’ve officially started prepping for the new term and the students who are about to arrive and start being apart of Campus Awakening and the young adult’s service at my new church and I have been welcomed by many wonderful and joyful people here. The offices of the church are located above a coffee shop called The Anchor, run by volunteers from the church in the renovated home of an old bar. Many of my coffee adoring friends from the states would feel right at home in this great little shop.
This season has started with such goodness and wholeness I can’t wait for what God is going to continue to do here. I’ll keep you updated as new and exciting things happen in my life.
Xoxo.
