Here are some of the responses I hear regularly when talking about my trip:

“Wow that’s a lot of money!”

“Do you think you are going to raise all of that in time?”

“What if you don’t get your money, will you be sent home?”

“I don’t think you can do it.”

“Your trip is a year’s worth of college tuition… maybe you need to go to college.”

“Why are you even trying?”

“Go to school it’s not a waste of money like this.”

When hearing this most people would be discouraged. I am working my butt off to raise money, send support letters, write personal thank you notes, reach out and personally ask for money (which is very hard for me), constantly think of new fundraising ideas for people and families that doesn’t break their bank, but also helps me reach my goal, save as much of my money as I can, and MUCH more. It is a full time job and I am working on it everyday. But then I get questions like those (above) asked. And yes some of them are valid, but the way they are presented are a bit discouraging. And the part that breaks my heart the most is that those people questioning this program are the ones unwilling to give even just $1 to make this happen.

Which brings me to my point of this blog. The idea of this blog is not to tear down people who have asked some of these questions, but instead to maybe encourage them a little on why and how $1 goes a long way-The Difference Of A Dollar.

Currently I have $1,489 raise. Leaving me with $13,462 left to raise.

If you have been keeping up with my fundraising you know I have goals I have to meet. I’m focusing on my first goal of $5,000 (which is due in June/July) right now.

So to meet my first goal of $5,000 I have $3,511 left to raise… Now here is where I’m going to break it down to show you the power of your single dollar!

If 3,511 people gave ONE  dollar I would have my goal. Yes I know I probably don’t know 3,511 people, but with the combination of all the people I know and all the people they know and all the people they know and all the people they know, and so on (you get the picture) I would FOR SURE have enough.

This means YOU helping me out by asking your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, facebook friends, bible study groups, book clubs, school teachers, elders, and church staff. These are just some of the people you could pass the word on to.

Ok now to my next break down.

If 1,756 people gave $2 I would meet my first goal of $5,000 and be ? fully funded!

If 703 people just gave $5 I would be at my goal of $5,000.

If 352 people gave $10 I would be at my goal of $5,000.

If 176 people (I know that I have 176 people that want to see me do this!) gave just $20 I would be at my goal of $5,000.

And finally if 71 people gave $50 then I would be at my goal of $5,000.

This is something God has placed in my future, and I know He will provide. So my question to you is, will you let The Lord use you to make His will be done?

I know this is not the traditional route of what a young person my age ‘should’ be doing, but God is not traditional and does not like being put in a box. He has put the race in front of me. I could so easily say no or turn and run, and honestly there are a lot of days when I feel like doing that. But I know if I did then I wouldn’t be living out my full potential of what God has. I would be missing out on some lessons He has to teach me, things He as for me to experience, and things He has for me to see.

I don’t want to pressure or beg for money from you. If you feel called and have the money to donate then please please pray about it and consider donating. But if your heart’s not in the place where you feel like you can or should donate that is OK! If that is the case then please be a prayer warrior for me. I know I have some strong ones out there and I appreciate that so much!

Anyway you can help is help that I didn’t have before and means 1 step closer to making this happen.

Thank you for taking the time to read about what is on my heart and how you can be involved in this amazing journey with God. I will be praying for all my supporters!!

Love you all,

Drew
