“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”

I like reading things like this in the Bible because it can be really encouraging. But do you know what is even more encouraging?

Experiencing it.

I’m getting ready to leave the country for 5 months. Coincidentally, I’m also getting ready to be unemployed for 5 months. Unfortunately I am not getting ready to stop making payments on my car for 5 months.

The Lord very clearly asked me to say yes to this call, to squad lead. And I did, though with some hesitation if I’m being honest.

“God, my girlfriend is just moving to the same town as me. And you want me to go?”

“God are you sure? I just interviewed with two churches about paid, part-time worship positions. Two! I’ll have to decline both if I leave for 5 months.”

“I have to make payments on my car still, even while I’m gone. How am I going to get enough money to cover that?

These are all questions I’ve asked the Lord in the last several months. Questions that don’t always have an answer past, “Trust me.”

But He is worthy of our trust. He is faithful, always. I know this. I’ve seen this.

Several days ago, I was gifted a sum of money from some truly wonderful people that will cover my car payments for the 5 months I’ll be gone. All of it.

Thanks to X-Squad and the love and generosity they showed me, the heaviest burden I had about saying yes has been lifted off my shoulders. And I know the Lord will take care of all the other burdens as well, and give me His yoke, which is light.

I said yes to seeking the Kingdom and God is giving me what I need. Everything good we have is a gift from Him, yet still we worry and fret about how things will work out.

But we don’t need to. Our Father loves us, and He will care for us.

Let this testimony of what He has done for me encourage you in your life. He will provide what you need. You only need to trust Him.

“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”
